Krautrock night

By Peter Guy on Oct 22, 09 01:39 AM

Friday night is KRAUTROCK night. Strap in and let the sounds of the kosmische take over.

Krautrock: The Rebirth of Germany Friday October 23, 9pm BBC Four.

And while we're on the subject - the utterly immense and uber-Kraut-influenced new record by Majeure is on sale this week.
The aptly-named Timespan, out on Temporary Residence Records, shares distinct similarities with creator/drummer A.E. Paterra's dayjob in synth-horror freakout specialists Zombi (see Getintothis review of their 2009 epic Spirit Animal) but blends the classic motorik rhythms of Neu! and the cascading textural washes of the likes of Tangerine Dream and Philip Glass.
I'm not gonna waffle on with the usual kraut-related cliches, instead stop reading this and visit here instead:

In the meantime, if you're persisting, here's a few unsquare Krautrock sounds to elevate your Thursday.

Neu!: Isi

Can: Mother Sky

Popol Vuh: Improvisation

Harmonia: Deluxe (Immer Wieder)
