Dubai Sound City: The Futureheads - Irish Village, Main Stage

Uh-oh-oh, uh-oh-oh!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! It's the weekend.
Let me explain. Thursday in Dubai is our Friday. You finish work, leg it home, wallop dinner then hit the town.
Then do it all over again tomorrow. And the day after. Sunday is our Monday.
So when The Futureheads roll onto Dubai Sound City's main stage at around 8pm local time it's fair to say the expectation and excitement is beyond fever pitch. Dubai hasn't ever had anything like Sound City before.
Or The Futureheads. Taut and Stanley-edged, their sound is exactly what the doctor ordered. And strangely they don't sound anywhere near 2005.
It helps that Barry and Ross are charisma personified while much of tonight's set cherry-picks from their excellent self-titled debut.
But in truth their 45 minute set is a tornado of bracing, infectious energy and inevitably when the Hounds of Love come calling so does Dubai.
I'll have whatever they're having.
