March 2010 Archives
Yep, the whoppers in the miltary jackets are back. Urgh.
Glasvegas have confirmed that drummer Caroline McKay has left the band. Vocalist James Allan said: "We are really sad that Caroline has decided to leave as she is one of the coolest drummers around, but we respect her decision and say goodbye with all our love and luck".
The band are currently in Los Angeles writing for their second full length album and are due to start recording in the summer.
So after quite a bit of speculation here's the LCD Soundsystem cover artwork to the third forthcoming studio album released on May 17/18. Getintothis previewed the entire electronic beast last week, so if you want a sneaky peak, get on this.
If you gotta go. Roar.
Getintothis delivers an insight into 2010's most anticipated record - LCD Soundsystem's as yet untitled third studio record.
I kinda thought I was the last bro on earth to check out Fang Island, I mean Jon was banging on about them at last year's SXSW, but then I spoke to Sean and he hadn't heard of them, so maybe I'm not too far behind.
Anyways, check the above, I reckon the middle eight and the closing solo is quite possibly the most life-affirming, shithot, jump-off-the-stage-like-Iggy-used-to-do-moment I've heard all year. Their long-player is out now on Sargent Records. More good stuff inside.
Nodding hipsters turn into jostling fanboys as Getintothis' Orla Foster stocks up on new t-shirts.
You'll never walk again: Liverpool footie fan finds inspiration in new hardcore band The Smoking Hearts.
Golden oldies return to the Masque Theatre and have Getintothis' Rosanna Hynes jumping for joy. Aww, bless.
I can't pretend to have been the biggest of Big Star fans, but I certainly was a fan. However, I'll always associate them with one of my good friends, Haydn, and good university days. Ironically, a Berlin-based Haydn wrote to me for the first time in a good while today. Meanwhile, over the other side of the world, Big Star were set to reunite for a much-anticipated South By South West showcase. Then came the sudden and tragic news of the death of their chief songwriter Alex Chilton. Reports are he died of a heartattack aged just 59.
You say 'hoe'. I say 'down'.
We don't normally do cover bands on Getintothis. But as Orla Foster found out The Smiths' number one tribute act are almost on a par with the real deal.
Dutch dance demon Tiësto is set to pop into the Echo Arena on Saturday. Ahead of his Liverpool date we whazzed over some questions from fans and he emailed us back. What a lovely chap.
