It's pretty well established that Liverpool is the home of pop music.
But it's been a while since we've had someone to truly shout about. Enter Vela.
Tipped by Pop Justice and Huw Stephens, who let's face it know good pop when they hear it, Vela is the stage name of Scouser Jen Davies - one of the hottest tips to break in late 2012.
Mixing Lady Gaga's Euro-pop rush, Justice's fat funk and a slice of Kitsuné cool, Vela is a deliciously exciting prospect from the Pool of Pop.
For the last 12 months, she's been working on her debut album in various studios around the world while collaborating with the teams behind Wiley (Rymez), Girls Aloud (Xenomania), Professor Green (TMS) and Kylie (Andy Chatterley).
Her debut single Lose It, out on November 12 via Universal/AATW Records, is a high octane rush of slamming beats and an intoxicating bassline to boot.
Vela told Getintothis: "I've had so much fun making this record and I've been able to work with an amazing team - I can't wait for everyone to hear what I've been up to in the studio over the last 12 months."
