Misery Guts: The Ship and Mitre
Misery Guts return with a corking set in the intimate setting of the Ship and Mitre, Getintothis' Steven White sings his heart out.
The small, intimate setting felt more like someone's front room than a concert venue as Misery Guts celebrated the release of their comeback single, Let Me On My Way.
Their Liverpool show at The Ship and Mitre felt like a gathering of family and friends with the band happy to mix it with those gathered in the crowd before the music kicked off.
Opening with a collection of earlier releases including Trying To Be The Sun, the crowd lapped up the band's fusion of assured folk textures and sprightly acoustic indie the minute they started.
Second track Spartacus brought about such a rousing response from the crowd that the pub staff insisted the bass be turned down, but it did nothing to dampen the mood.
On a night when many of the tracks showcased were new, the band did play some old favourites and when they finished their set with Spiders the crowd were well and truly bouncing.
A top night had by all and surely bigger things to come from this band, Misery Guts you left us smiling.
